Budapest

After a long night's travelling, here I am in Budapest

I could not believe how hot it was! In Cesky Krumlov I was shivering in my rain slicker, yet here I'm basking in the sunshine!

I walked along the river for a while, before I worked up the courage to take the funicular to the top of Castle Hill

I visited the Fisherman's Bastion

Before moving on to the Royal Palace

I met a friendly lion

Who turned out to be not so friendly after all!

I made my way (rather quickly) back down the hill (no time to wait for the funicular!) and across Chain Bridge

At last I arrived in Heroes Square

I took a quick look around

Before moving on to the castle

I ducked under the portcullis, and made my way inside

This is by far the strangest castle I've ever seen

Nothing seems to match!

It's like several different castles, all sandwiched together

A brief tour around the lake

Before deciding to call it a day

Cesky Krumlov

Before I move on to Budapest, I decided to take a little side trip

Welcome to Cesky Krumlov!

The weather has taken a turn - it's now cold, wet and windy
But the town itself is very pretty

With narrow cobbled streets

And pretty little squares

And, of course, the castle

Things I don't like:

The river

And the stairs!

But it is still very pretty

I went to explore the castle

I wandered around for a bit

Took a few pictures of the view

Then I found the gardens

Here there were no crowds - in fact, I think I was all alone

A fact that became all too apparent when I found myself lost

I wandered for ages, trying to find my way out of this maze

The hedgerows seemed to stretch forever

I think I might have been wandering around in circles

At last I stumbled across a pond - at least it made a change from the monotony of hedges!

After a few moments to clear my head, I found my way back out and into the town again

Time for me to move on

Prague - Part Three

My final day in Prague

But there is still so much to see!

I start my day at the Powder Tower

Before moving next door to the Municipal House

What a beautiful ornate building

Then I headed off in search of the Zizkov Tower

I came across an interesting looking church, but I did not linger

I didn't want to get too close to the tower - there were strange creatures crawling up the sides

Nonetheless, I worked up the nerve to go inside

I took a few pictures of the view

Before I settled down in one of the chairs for a brief rest

Time for a few more quick photos

Before I carried on

My wanderings took me towards the river

I climbed a nearby hill to get away from the water. Round the back of this building

I found the most amazing view

Before I left Prague, I took a moment to stop and see my cousins

One day too they will travel like me
